Role Overview

The DevOps Architect is responsible for delivering and implementing KPMG’s Azure solutions for our clients. The DevOps Architect will build and run cloud infrastructure and software services primarily in Azure cloud environments. Mentor and guide a team of engineers. Automate wherever possible to reduce the need for manual tasks and activities. Follow an agile approach to delivery, prioritizing work to maximize efficiency. Support the team by helping to solve problems and creating and using reusable assets. Participate in discussions with clients. Support the broader Azure Core team by providing input into infrastructure and security deployments. Develop tools and services useful in DevOps environments such as performance monitoring, security monitoring, deployment/configuration, continuous integration/build servers and cloud resources. 

Main Responsibilities

• Proven experience leading a team and designing DevOps solutions.
• Experience in talking technical to other DevOps engineers as well as explaining the business benefits of services, i.e. containers, to non-technical business partners.
• Proven experience with designing and architecting DevOps solutions for an application in Cloud (Preferably Azure). 
• Experience with Secure DevOps practices to maintain quality and security of DevOps solutions
• Manage source code repositories, branches, and versioning using Git or other version control systems.
• Designing and implementing capacity for Hosted and Self-hosted agents using Azure VMs/VMSS.
• Proven experience in Microservices and Containers. 
• Proven experience in software development or scripting languages such as Python/Go/PowerShell/Nodejs/C# or equivalent.
• Solid CI/CD pipelining skills using Azure DevOps /GitHub/TeamCity/Jenkins or equivalent.
• Product focussed, build once and reuse.
• Build it run it, take ownership of your code and infrastructure.
• Proven experience working in an agile environment and passion toward automation.
• Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
• Be a technological cloud advocate to a wider audience in the business.
• Be innovative, explore use of new software and tools that enhances the DevOps capability and share with the wider firm.
• Drive innovation by developing code base and automated deployments.

Experience and Background

• Experience in DevOps or infrastructure delivery.
• Builds and cultivates strong relationships and shows technical leadership to deliver quality, client-centric solutions using Microsoft technologies.
• Manages architecture, preparation and delivery for projects.
• Can advocate innovation both within the firm and with clients and promotes collaboration amongst teams.
• Advanced technical knowledge, direction and training to others.
• Experienced Azure architect with delivery of Microsoft infrastructure (cloud & on-premises) background or application migrations to serverless technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and manage a range of relationships in a complex environment.
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written and listening): an ability to present information concisely, to communicate in a manner applicable to all levels.
• Able to produce high quality and professional presentations.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure documents are consistent in language, terminology and style.
• Flexible approach to work with a focus on delivery to deadlines and high standards.
• Ability to handle highly confidential information with tact and discretion.

Skills and Qualifications

• Ideally a background in Azure DevOps and Azure infrastructure applications.
• Proven experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub or similar, to manage software code distribution and lifecycle.
• Proven experience with creating and implementing best practices in CI/CD YAML pipeline.
• Proven experience with artifacts management using Azure Artifacts, JFrog Artifactory, or equivalent.
• Proven experience in test automation using Selenium, Junit, Nunit, or equivalent within Azure DevOps.
• Proven experience with Azure PaaS (App Services, Logic Apps, Storage account, Automation).
• Proven experience with Hosted and self-hosted agents on Azure Virtual Machines and VMSS.
• Proven experience with Azure Serverless and integration (Batch, Function\Logic Apps, EventGrid)
• Proven experience with Azure ACR, ACI, Kubernetes.
• Proven experience with Azure AD and RBAC. 
• Experience with Windows Server\Linux OS
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (ARM\Terraform\PowerShell).

Desirable:

• Industry certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
• Git, Azure DevOps, Secure DevOps, App Services, Logic Apps, Functions, Terraform, Bicep
• ACR, ACI and AKS.
