Role Overview

The Data Solution Architect designs and delivers advanced intelligent data platforms and analytics solutions for client organisations, enabling them to unlock the value of their data assets. Within client projects, the role creates architectures that ensure data is high-quality, reliable, governed, and accessible for analytics and AI initiatives, incorporating both structured and unstructured data where required. The Data Solution Architect works closely with client stakeholders to translate business needs into robust, scalable designs that support informed decision-making, ensuring solutions are optimised for performance, compliance, and long-term adaptability.

Main Responsibilities

Project Responsibilities

• Drive the delivery of enterprise-grade intelligent data solutions across ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, and governance, following industry best practices and company standards.
• Own the end-to-end data architecture for assigned workstreams, making key design decisions and reviewing/producing comprehensive solution documentation.
• Lead and manage a multidisciplinary data team comprising data engineers, data analysts and other specialists, ensuring cohesive and high-quality delivery.
• Design and oversee data integrations between source systems, enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, cloud services, and analytics platforms.
• Provide support as required, collaborating closely with engagement teams and client stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify expectations, and finalise deliverables.
• Own requirement gathering and documentation, perform gap/fit analysis, and translate business needs into scalable, sustainable data solutions.
• Ensure quality project delivery through solution testing, validation, and adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards.
• Advise clients and delivery teams on scope management, identifying potential scope creep and applying change control processes effectively.
• Deliver end-user training to clients and colleagues on data platforms, analytics processes, and governance practices where applicable.
• Demonstrate capability in solution upselling, identifying opportunities for additional services or enhancements aligned with company offerings.
• Exhibit strong consulting skills, including analytical thinking, written and verbal communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities.
• Solve and advise on complex data challenges such as performance optimisation, data quality issues, and cross-platform integration with creative, pragmatic solutions.
• Meet and exceed customer expectations through business knowledge, technical expertise, and professional conduct.
• Identify business/project risks related to data security, compliance, scalability, or delivery timelines, and mitigate or communicate as necessary.
• Ensure progress updates are communicated to relevant parties both formally (status reports, steering committee updates) and informally (ad-hoc discussions, chat channels).
• Provide on-site support as required by the company or client.

• Carry out additional duties as may occur from time to time as instructed and agreed by senior members.
• Contribute to RFP and RFQ responses, providing technical solution outlines, architectural diagrams, and effort estimates.
• Willing to travel abroad when required

Experience and Background

• Minimum 12 years’ relevant experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale intelligent data solutions.

• Strong background in data modelling and data platform architectures.

• Experience engaging with client stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

• Proven ability to present and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.

Skills and Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures using tools and platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Purview, Entra ID, and Azure Policies.
• Demonstrate deep understanding of data architecture principles, including relational and non-relational databases, ETL/ELT processes, lakehouse architectures, medallion data models (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers), master data management, metadata management, cloud architecture, security, compliance, and governance principles.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, SparkSQL, Python, PySpark and DAX.
• Experience with delivery platforms such as Azure DevOps and GitHub.
