The Role

The Senior Application Architect is responsible for delivering and implementing KPMG’s Azure solutions for our clients. The Senior Architect will design Azure solutions on IaaS and PaaS and will be comfortable presenting these solutions to clients in workshops and demonstrations. The Senior Application Architect will manage the end-to-end delivery working with other Architects and Consultants to ensure our projects are delivered with time and quality a key objective. The Senior Application Architect will mentor junior members of the team and encourage a collaborative working environment. 

Job Responsibilities

• Work with clients demonstrate how their cloud strategy aligns with Microsoft technology
• Creating low level architectural designs based on customer requirements
• Implementation of technical solutions for customer requirements in Azure, Microsoft 365, and Power Platform
• Act as the Technical Design Authority on projects alongside the Solution Architects
• Provide governance to projects and mentor members of the team
• Showcase our propositions to customers via online webinars and face to face workshops
• Engage with KPMG stakeholders and ensure our solutions are understood throughout the firm
• Write technical documents, ensuring that all design/technical documentation is kept up to date during the development process
• Working in an Agile approach depending on the business requirements
• Working with both on-shore and off/near-shore development teams
• Deliver all development work as per KPMG Azure practice standards, ensuring that all software applications are implemented successfully per the project plan: on time and on budget
• Be an active member of technical and design working groups within the practice
• Adhere to best practice and KPMG technical standards during all development
• Identify any risks and issues early and raise through the appropriate governance channels
• Help with team management and growth, together with Performance Manager duties
• Participate and lead team initiatives
• Assist in the recruitment process for the team
• In all activities, ensure timely completion of internal processes and mandatory training
• Help define the tools and processes used within projects
• Willing to travel abroad when required
• Provide on-site support as required by company or client
• Performance manage and/or mentor junior members of the team
• To carry out additional duties as may occur from time to time as instructed and agreed by the Practice management team
• Always represent KPMG Microsoft Business Solutions in a professional and positive manner
• Within your role, you have the responsibility of protecting all information that is shared with you in the course of your association with KPMG (including information provided by clients) in line with the requirements of the Information Security Policy as stated within your contractual agreement

Core Technical Knowledge Required

• Experience leading delivery engagements and managing technical teams
• 10+ years’ experience implementing cloud solutions over Azure
• Proven experience with implementing .NET solutions
• Proven experience with Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions
• Proven experience with common components such as Azure Storage, Service Bus
• Proven experience with Azure AD, Service Principals, Managed Identities
• Experience with API Management
• Mastered the use of source control systems, preferably git
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with writing unit tests
• Proven experience with logging and monitoring solutions
• Proven experience of setting up Azure DevOps & CI CD pipelines
• Proven experience using communication protocols such as HTTP, SFTP, OData, Web APIs, gRPC, etc
• Experience with Azure Data Factory
• Proficient in delivering solutions using the latest .NET platform with good quality, performance, and security principles
• Familiar with the KPMG Powered approach, other frameworks such as TOGAF will be an asset
• Ability to describe how the following tech fits inside a solution. Experience with using such will be considered an asset: 
• o Databases, mainly MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Cosmos DB 
• o PowerShell
• o Web Apps and Logic Apps
• o IIS, Apache, Nginx
• o Python scripting and Node.js
• o Networks and Security 
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing

Desirable Technical Skills

• Microsoft AZ-204, AZ-400, AZ-500, DP-420, SC-300 certifications
• Experience with Microsoft 365, migrations, and security
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code
• Experience with Containerisation solutions
