Intelligent Cloud – Data & Analytics – Senior Data Architect (C2)

Role Overview

KPMG Microsoft Business Solutions is seeking a talented Senior Data Architect to support the development and implementation of large-scale Modern Data Platforms, Business Intelligence (BI), and Analytics solutions for our clients. This role is highly technical and requires a thorough understanding of data architecture and modelling concepts. Additionally, it demands strong analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills. Effective communication and collaboration abilities are essential, alongside the motivation to achieve results in a dynamic business environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Architecting and design of Modern Data Platforms, across Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Analytics solution 
• Implementing Medallion Architecture/Lakehouse architecture using Fabric and Azure 
• Hands on experience in developing reusable data ingestion and data processing (SCD-1, SCD-2, snapshot, load append) frameworks 
• Design and build of data model including conceptual logical and physical data models
• Help to enforce technical architecture and documentation standards, policies and procedures 
• Hands on experience in distributed data processing using Spark (PySpark/Spark SQL/Python/Scala)
• Knowledge of near real time data processing using Azure event hubs and Azure stream analytics
• Knowledge of ingesting data from IoT devices and processing it using Event hubs Azure stream analytics and making the insights available on to Power BI
• Analyse, implement and resolve issues with existing Azure Data Platforms 
• Assisting in the scoping, estimation, and task planning for assigned projects
• Following the project work plans to meet functionality requirements, project objectives and timelines
• Produce comprehensive technical architectural documentation 
• Address customer queries and issues promptly to ensure high levels of satisfaction
• Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to team members to foster skill development and knowledge sharing
• Data knowledge about data governance tools (Purview, Unity Catalog) 
• Performance optimization techniques while processing data in a distributed manner 
• Within your role, you have the responsibility of protecting all information that is shared with you in the course of your association with KPMG (including information provided by clients) in line with the requirements of the Information Security Policy as stated within your contractual agreement. Policies are subject to regular review and change and hence the employee is obliged to remain updated accordingly

Core Technical Knowledge Required

Experience in designing and implementing Azure Data Solutions using services such as:

• Microsoft Fabric
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Azure Databricks
• Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
• Azure SQL Database
• Azure Data Factory 
• Azure DevOps
• Azure Stream Analytics
• Knowledge of Azure Cosmos DB
• Have working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
• Understanding and experience of Data Governance frameworks
• Have working knowledge or experience of Azure Purview
• Familiar and knowledgeable with Infrastructure as code approaches
• Familiar with development approaches such as CI/CD
• Familiar with Infrastructure as Code implementations
• Has knowledge of Azure DevOps
• Knowledge of common Data Models/Industry Data Models/Synapse Analytics Database templates will be considered an asset
• Experience in OLAP technology and the Microsoft on-premises BI Stack (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS) will be useful 

Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 products, the Dataverse, and the Microsoft Power Platform will be considered an asset
